The Caribbean Centre for Health Systems Research (CCHRSD) is a Research Centre located at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. The Centre was established in 2018 to promote Health Policy and Systems Research (HPSR) and address pressing policy and system issues faced by decision-makers in the Caribbean.

Caribbean Centre for Health Systems Research mission vision values

Since joining PEERSS in 2020, CCHRSD has engaged several social sector Ministries in Trinidad and Tobago, especially those working in the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) space, to build their capacity to develop evidence-informed policies and include stakeholders and citizens in decision-making processes.

In the future, activities to support evidence-informed policymaking will include:

Finding ways to adapt, pilot, and refine mechanisms utilized in the health sector to support evidence-informed policymaking in the social sector.

Co-creating rapid syntheses with social sector Ministries to address priority areas for which evidence is needed to inform policymaking.

Conducting, in collaboration with social sector Ministries, Stakeholder Dialogues that tackle inter-sectoral issues in Trinidad and Tobago.

Conducting a citizens’ panel at the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) level.
